I'm glad that it's getting harder to maintain a church in this culture. I think it's the wakeup call we need. We have been a little too lax about focusing on what God told us to.
Acedia. I regret that the old English word ''Accidie'' has entirely dropped out of use. It is used by Chaucer and other early writers for the sin of spiritual sloth or sluggishness. Curiously, loss of motivation can produce what appears to be the opposite of sloth or acedia: hyperactivity. But in reality, it is just another dimension of the same loss of direction and sense of ''why''
